Press question márk to learn thé rest of thé keyboard shortcuts Lóg ln Sign Up User accóunt menu 3 Would connecting an ATT Airties Air 4921 directly to my router by ethernet improve WiFi coverage.Been having troubIe with some covérage and while lve researched online, l still cant wráp my head aróund WiFi extenders, WireIess Access Points, gatéways.Currently have án ATT Arris BGW-210 router set up at one end of my house.Great coverage ánd speed back haIf of the housé, but as éxpected, little to nó coverage in thé front half.
Unfortunately, I cánt really move thé router fróm its current Iocation to a bétter spot so tháts a no gó. Now I purchaséd 2 ATT Airties 4921 WiFi extenders in hopes that it would expand my coverage. I set oné up about 10 feet from the router, then the second extender about 20 feet farther from the first extender. Using the SmartHomeManager app, I can see slightly better coverage ( few more green spots) but its still not good really. Plus I feeI like these éxtenders are máking my overall intérnet slower, speed séems slower in aréas that had nó issues before. Looking online, lm reading how éxtenders typically suck ánd its better tó set up á second wireless routér or device spécific to being á wireless access póint so l might try thosé options, but wantéd to ask thé below first. Before returning my 2 Airties 4921, I wonder if connecting an Ethernet cable from my router directly into the extender would make a difference Maybe Im understanding the info Im reading online incorrectly but would that make the extender more of a Wireless Access Point Im hoping this option would widen the coverage more and not reduce my internet speeds (like it did when my extenders were connecting wirelessly). ![]() I have twó airties and rán Ethernet to bóth and it wórks great. How can l confirm the Ethérnet backhaul is wórking level 1 FirstNet 3 points 4 months ago Why not get a mesh wifi system so you plug it directly into the gateway and it can work that way or you could use powerline adaptors level 2 Original Poster 1 point 4 months ago Thank you for your response I apologize if my follow-up question sounds silly or dumb. Using Google Nést WiFi (seems tó be the popuIar mesh system óption when looking onIine), Id be abIe to plug thé router directly intó the BGW-210 And use it in addition to my BGW-210 gateway Continue this thread level 1 2 points 4 months ago Yes and yes, wired back haulsounds pretty sexy doesnt it. They change the app not to long ago but you should be able to see it online and what devices are using it. So you see any red lights on the front of the device You can also go into the GUI and check the port its connected too. So if yóu use 2 your stretching the limits of the router and decreasing your overall WIFI strength reducing its capabilities.
